The members of the Bound Brook Board of Education recently earned Board Certification through the New Jersey School Board Association (NJSBA) Board Member Academy. Working to earn this certification underscores the board’s commitment to working together and improving their skills and effectiveness with the common goal of maximizing student achievement.
The NJSBA’s unique certification program is designed to deliver professional development for board members in all areas of school board responsibility while exploring and expanding their leadership skills. Among the rigorous requirements to achieve certification, board members are required to attend workshops and participate in group training to earn credit, participate in an audit of the board policy manual, review the negotiated teachers’ contract with NJSBA’s legal and labor relations staff, comply with current mandatory training and complete an annual self-evaluation.
Board members were presented their certificates at the Somerset County School Boards Association meeting on May 18.
“This certification is a shining example of the board’s commitment to our Bound Brook school community,” said Dr. Alvin L. Freeman, Bound Brook School District Superintendent. “We congratulate our board members on this accomplishment and thank them for their continued service and dedication to ensuring all students receive a high-quality educational experience.”
