Dear Bound Brook School Community,
As another remarkable school year came to a close, our district celebrated meaningful milestones that marked both the culmination of one chapter and the beginning of another for our students.The Community Middle School 8th grade promotion ceremony celebrated our students' growth and recognized their readiness for high school. Their middle school experience has prepared them to take the next step with confidence, curiosity, and a commitment to continued learning.
Our Bound Brook High School graduation ceremony marked the culmination of years of hard work, growth, and achievement. Throughout their time in our schools, our graduates have developed the character, perseverance, resilience, and determination needed to overcome challenges and pursue their goals. The foundation they have built in the Bound Brook School District has prepared them to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead. Whether they choose higher education, careers, military service, or another path, they leave our schools equipped with the knowledge, skills, and values to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
The success of this school year reflects the collective dedication of our teachers, support staff, administrators, families, Board of Education, and community partners. Your unwavering commitment to our students has helped create a learning environment where they are challenged, supported, and inspired to reach their full potential.
To our entire Bound Brook family, thank you for your continued partnership and support throughout the year. I wish each of you a safe, restful, and well-deserved summer, and I look forward to welcoming our students back on September 3 for another exciting year of learning, growth, and achievement.

BOUND BROOK HIGH SCHOOL
BBHS honored with prestigious NJ/NY Blood Center award
Bound Brook High School is proud to announce that Physical Education Teacher Kayla Boardman and Special Education Teacher Lauren Belli were recently recognized as recipients of the "You Mean the World to Me 2026" Award by the NJ/NY Blood Center.
“This prestigious honor is especially meaningful because only one group of blood drive chairpersons from the NJ/NY Blood Center service area is selected each year for this recognition,” said BBHS Principal Edward Smith. “Since 2022, Ms. Boardman and Ms. Belli have played a vital role in organizing and promoting blood drives at our high school.”
Through their leadership and dedication, the BBHS community has helped collect an incredible 1,190 lifesaving blood products in just three years, a remarkable achievement that has impacted countless patients and families in need.
This accomplishment is even more meaningful because Bound Brook's blood drives are open to the public, providing opportunities for students, staff, families, and community members to unite in support of a lifesaving cause.
In the nomination speech read during the award ceremony, their unwavering commitment, partnership, and ability to foster a culture of giving were highlighted as key reasons for their selection. Their efforts continue to demonstrate the positive impact that dedicated educators can have both inside and outside the classroom.
Bound Brook High School congratulates both teachers on this well-deserved honor and thanks them for their extraordinary service to our students, school, and community. Their dedication has helped save lives while inspiring others to make a difference.
COMMUNITY MIDDLE SCHOOL
CMS students make unforgettable memories in the nation's capital |
Community Middle School eighth graders traveled to Washington, D.C. for a fun adventure over two days. During their time in the nation’s capital, students had the opportunity to explore countless sights, connecting their classroom lessons to real-world history.
Class advisors Ms. Diaz and Ms. Lavornia helped to coordinate the annual tradition, putting together an itinerary for students to take in the classic landmarks and learn new facts along the way.
The trip kicked off with visits to the Smithsonian National Museum of American History and the Smithsonian National Museum of Natural History. Here, students found themselves surrounded by captivating displays that allowed them to delve into significant historical events and cultures.
Students concluded their first day by visiting the Lincoln Memorial, the Korean War Veterans Memorial, the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and the Washington Monument. Standing before these landmarks, they connected the people, sacrifices, and defining moments they had studied in the classroom to the places where our nation's history is remembered and honored. Students reflected on the leadership, courage, and service that have shaped the United States while gaining a deeper appreciation for the individuals whose contributions continue to influence our country today.
On the second day, students visited other notable sights, including Arlington National Cemetery, the White House, the Library of Congress, and the Capitol Building.
Beyond the sights, the trip helped students create lasting memories before stepping into the next chapter of their lives: high school. Community Middle School extends its gratitude to every chaperone, teacher, and family member who contributed to making this experience a reality.
 SMALLEY SCHOOL
Smalley partners with RideWise to teach students how to stay safe on two wheels
Students at Smalley Elementary School participated in a pedestrian and bicycle safety presentation ahead of summer break.
RideWise representatives Ms. Olivia Allegra and Ms. Reese Lewin presented to approximately 400 students in grades 4 through 6, sharing practical lessons on how to stay safe while walking and biking throughout the community.
RideWise is a nonprofit organization that serves Somerset County, New Jersey and is one of eight Transportation Management Associations (TMAs) throughout New Jersey.
“Through partnerships with schools like Smalley Elementary School, RideWise provides in-school education and organizes Walk to School events, bike trains and bike buses to encourage safe and active transportation,” said Ms. Allegra.
The presentation was especially meaningful for Bound Brook students, many of whom walk or ride their bikes around town.
“My favorite part of the presentation was learning what to wear in the dark,” said fifth grade student Aria.
Smalley teacher Ms. Wright highlighted the importance of bringing programs like this to the school.
“Most of our students walk or ride their bikes around town. This presentation provided helpful reminders and tips to stay safe,” she said.
“We hope students get walking and biking, enjoy the outdoors and always take safety seriously,” said Ms. Lewin.
By partnering with organizations like RideWise, Bound Brook School District continues to provide students with valuable real-world learning experiences that promote safety, independence and healthy habits.
LAFFAYETTE ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
School community celebrates global teamwork with World Cup-themed Field Day
The Lafayette Elementary School community brought the excitement of the world's biggest sporting event with a World Cup-themed Field Day that united students and staff in a celebration of school pride.
Each of Lafayette's 16 classrooms proudly represented one of the 48 nations that are competing in the tournament. Countries included Morocco, Brazil, Mexico, China, Portugal, the United States, Qatar, Australia, and many others.
The festivities kicked off with an opening ceremony that mirrored the spirit of the World Cup. As each classroom proudly displayed its country flag, students were called forward one by one while a portion of their nation's national anthem played.
In addition, eighth-grade students from Community Middle School volunteered their time to support the event and run activities like face painting and mini sport competitions.
Physical Education teacher Mrs. Mukherjee led the creative vision behind the event, and her love for the game helped transform Field Day into a global celebration. Her enthusiasm inspired students to learn about different countries and recognize the values that unite athletes around the world.
Art teacher Mrs. Ackley also worked closely with students to design classroom flags for each assigned country. The flags showcased creative craftsmanship and attention to detail, becoming a source of pride for every classroom.
Just as World Cup teams rely on values such as collaboration, respect, and determination to succeed, Lafayette students demonstrated those same qualities as they supported one another and celebrated different cultures.
 LAMONTE/LAMONTE ANNEX ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Honoring local veterans during Walk of Heroes LaMonte Literacy Lab teacher Mrs. Kaye turned the idea of a Walk of Heroes celebration into a reality around three years ago, kicking off a special tradition to honor local community members who have served or are currently serving our country.
Each year, Mrs. Kaye works diligently behind the scenes, posting messages on the Bound Brook Parents Facebook page and sending requests to families and staff, to recognize veterans from our Crusader family.
The Walk of Heroes ceremony recognized and thanked the following heroes for their service, including those who could not attend in person.
Specialist Michael Lopez
As a stepdad to Bound Brook student R. Lemoniaus, she and her mother represented him during the event, since he is currently deployed overseas. He serves in the Army National Guard and started his military journey in February of 2022. Since then, he has been promoted three times and is working towards his fourth promotion to become a NCO. Currently, his primary role is being a grenadier in the U.S. Army infantry, specializing in explosives.
Specialist (E4) Salvatore Caruso
As a father to Ms. Cuba, Caruso served in the US Army from 1957 to 1960. He completed his basic training in Fort Carson, Colorado. From there, he went to Fort Rutgers, Alabama. After graduating, he went to Fort Eustis, Virginia, and was assigned to the 65th Aviation Detachment. Caruso was sent to Korea to base K16 8th Army Aviation Unit, where he spent a year as a helicopter mechanic. He was then sent to Fort Banks, Massachusetts, 56 Nike Air Defense, and a year later, he was honorably discharged.
E4/SPC Kelli McClain
As a mother to Bound Brook student J. McClain, she was a combat medic in the Army for four years. McClain was stationed at Fort Polk, LA, and was a part of the 4th Brigade 10th Mountain Division. From there, she was deployed to Afghanistan from October 2010 until October 2011.
Chief Master Sergeant Julio Lugo
Lugo lives in Bound Brook with his wife. He has served in three of the U.S. military branches. He first served in the Marines from 1989-1993 and has been serving in the Air Force for the last 24 years. He has completed two tours in the Middle East and served in the Navy. Lugo recently retired as a Police Sergeant from the Rutgers Police Department.
